Autumn brings wet and windy weather, as well as shorter days, but it doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom! There are a number of fun things to do outdoors with your family during autumn.

Go on a woodland walk

A brisk woodland walk is a fantastic autumn activity that the entire family can get involved in. Research has shown that getting active, particularly outdoors, can work wonders for your physical and mental health. Going on a woodland walk provides a perfect opportunity to get your daily dose of exercise whilst also being in the midst of all that nature has to offer.

Kite Flying

Visit a local farm

A day trip to the farm is a great family activity. Doing something a little different for the day allows your little ones to get a closer view of traditional working farms, learn something new about their favourite farmyard animals and explore another side of the local countryside. There are a number of excellent farms in East Yorkshire for you to visit, including Honey Suckle Farm, Sledmere House, and Sewerby Hall.

Go on a leaf hunt

Another fun thing to do outdoors with kids, a leaf hunt provides a great opportunity for your little ones to get further acquainted with nature. Autumn leaves come in a diverse range of shapes, colours and sizes, with interesting features and textures. Spend an afternoon searching for brightly coloured leaves and collect your favourites to create an autumn garland, or even take rubbings to create your own painted masterpiece. Take your kids on a leaf hunt in a wide, open, natural space like the grounds at Burton Constable Holiday Park to provide them with a day of true autumnal fun.
