A massive thank you
We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the dedicated volunteers who have been working tirelessly to clear the north lake of lilies and tidy it up over the past two weeks, regardless of the weather conditions. This has been an incredibly challenging task, and we are immensely thankful to each and every one of you for your invaluable contributions. Your hard work and commitment have made a significant difference in our efforts to conserve the beauty at the park.
After the Storm
Storm Agnes passed through just before work commenced, which actually became an advantage. The powerful winds from the storm pushed the debris to the surface of the north lake, consolidating it into one area, which made it more manageable for our volunteers to extract.
Under the surface
One of our devoted volunteers, Chris (pictured left), provided a visual demonstration of just how big these lilies had grown and how deep they extended into the lake.
The first phase of the rejuvenation project had these lilies sliced at their roots along the bed of the lake. Thousands of lilies have been extracted so far and work to clear the remaining lilies continues.
