identifying the trees
With the support of our Friends of the Arboretum, we’ve successfully identified each tree within the arboretum, ensuring every tree receives the correct label.
Once a tree’s species is identified, we plan the label placement to ensure it’s easy to spot and accessible for everyone. Our goal is for each visitor to enjoy a seamless experience as they explore the arboretum, learning more about the unique variety of trees around them.
What are the labels for?
The arboretum labels help identify each tree. Every label displays the tree’s common name, its Latin name, and the specific “room” it’s located in, making it easy to find on the live map.
Another helpful addition is the QR code on each label. Just scan it to access a dedicated page with information about that tree’s bark, leaves, flowers, and more.
The process continues…
With nearly half of the trees now labelled, we’re continuing to add more labels so that eventually every tree in the arboretum will be identified. Our goal is to make the arboretum as informative as it is beautiful.
In time, we’ll be adding more signage, including information boards that explain each “room” and its connection to Burton Constable Hall, enriching the experience for all visitors as they explore the history and natural beauty of the grounds.
