The length of a holiday home license depends on the type of unit but each licence has an expiry date. For example, we give lodges a licence of 25 to 30 years from the date of manufacture, while caravans can have a licence that can be 20 to 25 years from their manufacturing date.
Extending the Licence
At the end of your holiday home’s licence, we will have a conversation with you about your plans for the holiday home.
Ideally, you would be in a position to part-exchange your unit and upgrade to a newer holiday home with a new licence to continue staying with us for years to come. However, that is not always the case – some owners decide to move off-park, and some seek to extend their licence.
Why is there a limit on licences?
We have very personal relationships with our owners. If we had no limit, it would mean we would be singling our owners for holiday homes that are looking a bit sub-standard. We prefer the conversation to be triggered automatically rather than making any owners feel ‘picked on’ (“Julie’s is way worse than mine”, “Dave’s is far older than mine” etc.). The licence length reflects two things: 1) the fact that holiday homes don’t necessarily last forever (decades, not centuries!), and 2) customers should be conscientious of their holiday home’s appearance with a view to keeping up the five-star appearance of the Park for everyone’s benefit, and optimising the value of their holiday home.
What requirements must be met to extend the licence?
We will conduct a thorough review on a case-by-case basis to determine whether an extension is possible. These extensions are usually done on a yearly basis. Several factors will influence whether the unit can remain on the park:
- Condition and Maintenance: We assess the current state of the holiday home to ensure it aligns with the park’s standards and overall aesthetic. We aim to maintain a cohesive and appealing environment for all our guests, and this includes ensuring that all units meet our quality and design expectations.
- Your Continued Enjoyment: We consider whether you still enjoy the park and wish to continue your stay. Your satisfaction with the park and its facilities is important to us, and we want to ensure that it remains a great fit for your holiday needs.
- Fit with the Park: Ultimately, if your holiday home looks good, if you like us and we like you – why would we not extend a licence? We are in the business of long-term relationships with customers, so the longer you and your family stays with us, the better.
