When is Easter 2024?

Easter Sunday is on March 31st 2024.

For schools in the Hull and East Yorkshire area, the Easter Holidays commence Friday 22nd March 2024, with students returning to school on Monday 8th April 2024.

Easter takes place 47 days after Pancake Day, which is also known as Shrove Tuesday. Observed by many Western Christian denominations, the following day of Ash Wednesday marks the start of Lent, a six-week period of fasting up to Easter.

Following Easter, the next holiday is the Early Summer Half-Term. This is often known as Whitsun Week. Named for the holy day of Pentecost which falls on the seventh Sunday after Easter.

  • Easter takes place on the first Sunday soonest after 21st March. Which is around the time of the March Equinox.
